Happy New Year…and what a start it’s been
We are barely a week into 2021 and in the UK and parts of Europe have entered a third lockdown. As we have done over the past year, it looks set to be another few months of drawing deeply on your resilience and positivity.
Should I put plans on hold?
With so much change and uncertainty, you may well be asking yourself what to do about making plans for the year ahead and navigating your career and personal life.
Should you put things on hold until after the pandemic is over? Sit tight and wait to see what happens before making any decisions? Or be brave and make plans and do your best to see them through?
Whilst we all feel like hibernating and not coming out until it’s all over, if you stand still then you risk going backwards.
Whilst it’s hard to know what to expect when there’s so much uncertainty, I’d recommend making plans for what you’d like to achieve this year, whilst bearing in mind that you may need to flex and adapt them. That way you’ll feel more in control and able to move forward, even in times like these.

With all of this in mind, this year we plan to share with you our top tips for navigating and advancing your career, even in the most challenging times, so that you are able to make the most of all opportunities that come your way and make 2021 a year to remember.
Each month we will share a blog focussing on a skill or attribute, along with practical tips and resources. Throughout the year I’ll also share video and audio messages and set challenges for you. Keep an eye out for events, and please invite me into your organisation or recommend me to others to design a bespoke programme for your leaders, Staff from ethnically diverse groups staff or to promote gender parity or to give an engaging and inspirational talk.
