Case Study
Centrica
JGG worked with Centrica for two years, developing 30 talented staff from underrepresented groups.
Staff identified a few workplace challenges they sought to overcome through the programme, including “climbing the career ladder” and “being the best leader they can be”. With these targets in mind, the Step-Up programme was born. This programme followed our signature model, engaging senior leaders and line managers, as well as providing learning for participants.
Through learning modules and intensive Support & Challenge groups (action learning sets), the cohorts walked away with a renewed sense of confidence and readiness to grow within Centrica. At the end of the eight-month programme, an average of 93% of the participants stated that they would recommend this development to others.

Results
- Before the programmes: only 8% of managers felt confident discussing race and ethnicity at work. After the programmes: average confidence score rose to 87/100.
- Before the programmes: fewer than 40% of senior leaders felt confident creating growth opportunities. After the intervention: senior leaders’ readiness score increased to 63/100.
